Kansas City Life Insurance Company owns several lots and buildings. The majority of Roanoke is privately owned residential homes.

The Roanoke neighborhood in Kansas City is north of Westport and east of Kansas University Medical Center. It is bordered by Roanoke Park on the north and east - extends south to 38th Street and east to Jefferson. It is one of Kansas City's oldest neghborhoods. Most homes in Roanoke were built between the 1890's and 1930's.
