Circa 1936. A stately brick Tudor in Historic Westheight Manor Neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas. This sprawling home with 5 beds, 3.5 baths and 3 distinct living areas sits on a ? acre lot in a neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Original elements of home have been maintained by current owners - slate roof, copper gutters, quoins framing entry, original moldings, tiled baths, Irish pub style bar in basement, expansive cedar closets/storage on third floor, plus 4 separate patios/balconies. The home is perfect for entertaining or a large family.

2208 Washington sits amidst many significant historic homes in its neighborhood, Historic Westheights Manor. The houses built in Westheight Manor cover many styles from the 1880s to the 1970s - Queen Anne, Craftsman, Twenties Tudor, Prairie Style, Mid-Century Modern, and California Ranch. Notable architects such as Louis S. Curtiss, Victor J. Defoe (who began his career with J.C.Nichols), Edward Buehler Delk (who also helped build the Country Club Plaza), J.G. Braecklein and W.W. Rose all contributed to this unique community. This neighborhood is not an Home Owners Association, but is very civic minded and interactive, participating in annual holiday festivities.

The home was built by Leo F. Brady Sr. for Joseph Cohen, one of the first civil rights lawyers in KC. Joseph was one of few during his time to represent Black clients in the Kansas City area in the early 1900s (documented for future owners). Joseph and his wife, Rose, built the home 1936 and continued to perfect it through 1938. There are documented letters from Joseph to Rose noting the ongoing work on the home by Rose and Leo Brady. This gorgeous brick Tudor with slate shingles, copper gutters, crown moldings, decorative fixtures and beautifully tiled bathrooms has been maintained over the course of its life by its owners.

This expansive Twenties Tudor style home has 5 large bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. There are two living areas (formal living room and den), a formal dining room, breakfast nook, large kitchen, plus a bedroom and full bathroom on the main floor. The primary suite, 3 additional bedrooms, and a full hall bathroom are on the second floor. The third floor consists of large cedar storage closets. The basement has an Irish pub style bar with working beer taps and booths, a living area great for movie nights, laundry area and more storage in the unfinished part of the basement.
